VBA in Office 2008 for Mac?

Jim

Does any one know if VBA will still be supported in the upcoming new
versions of Office"?

That is really bad news. I have a big investment in VBA code for Excel.

Are you aware of what the options are for programming in the context of
Excel? And how can the VBA code be recycled?

Thanks,
Jim

AppleScript or RealBasic will be supported. Other options may be if they
can access the XL object model via OLE.

Not sure what you mean by "recycled".

Note that VBA is being deprecated on the WinOffice side, too, though it
will be around longer.

I just mean translating old code into whatever is needed to work with
Excel.[/QUOTE]

Paul Berkowitz has written a guide for MacTech magazine, "Moving from
Microsoft Office VBA to Applescript". A preliminary draft was available
at MacWorld. It will be published in MacTech later this year. It gives
lots of examples of how to translate VBA to Applescript

But the bottom line will be hand-coding.

BTW - there's a promotion on MacTech's site (mactech.com) sponsored by
MS that will give you a 6-month subscription to MacTech for $9.95.

I really need something that will work on both PCs and Macs. That
seems to be the hard thing about solving the problem.

The old XLM macro language WILL be supported in Excel 2008 and it WILL also
work cross platform on Windows PCs.
