VBA not working exce 2004 for mac

I upgraded to office 2004 version of excel for macintosh and it's running on
OS X 10.3.5. When I try to create a macro or use the Visual Basic Editor it
tells me it is unable to do so. I reinstalled Visual Basic for Applications
several times to see if that was the problem. Each time it installs the
appication inside the Office folder inside the Office 2004 folder. If you do
Get Info on the application however says it opens with Netscape
communicator. I am totally baffled. I'm trying to learn Visual Basic but can't
even get it installed. I can find nothing on the Microsoft web site. I tried
changing the default application for it to open with excel and even word but
no luck. Thanks in advance for any help.

First try repairing disk permissions - see

Also try deleting the Office Registration Cache 11 file from the
~:Library:preference:Microsoft folder.
