VBAProject (Personal.xls)

I open Excel 2003, the VBAProject (Personal.xls) opens. (Don't know if that
is the correct terminology.)

If I open Excel again, I get the warning that the personal.xls workbook is
locked for editing.

I click cancel.

How can i prevent this message box from appearing?

Don't open two instances of excel.

Save your personal.xls as an addin (.xla).

Mark your personal.xls as readonly (in windows explorer).

I've seen that happen when I open up multiple instances of Excel. I think
the only way around it is to work only in one instance of Excel. If I'm
wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I am a total rookie & working on my first macros my excel crashed & it created
not one but 3

VBAProject personal (VERSION 1).xls
VBAProject personal (VERSION2).xls
VBAProject personal (VERSION 2) (VERSION 2).xls

how do I get read of them??, they don't have modules but do have workbooks &
the remove this workbook option is greyed out, same situation on the objet
file + vba project

Please help!!

Open the VBE.
Hit ctrl-g to see the immediate window.
type this and hit enter:
?workbooks("personal (VERSION 1).xls").fullname
(Be careful with your typing!)
make a note of the location(s).

Close excel.
Open windows explorer and go to that folder and delete (or move) the files you
don't want.

(Another way...)

These look like the files you get when excel crashes and autorecovery steps in
and tries to help.

You may be able to find them (using xl2003 menus):
tools|Options|save tab
Look at the "autorecovery save location" box.
