vCalendar Reminder

I'm using Outlook 2007, and something I do frequently is import
vCalendar events. The vCalendar events in question do not provide a
reminder time. I have my default reminder time in Outlook set to two
days, but when I open a vCalendar item, the reminder time is not set
(set to "None"). Why is the default reminder time getting ignored.
More importantly, how do I get vCalendar events to use my default
reminder time?

vcals are preconfigured and importing such events does not change their
settings. The default reminder is for new items and while importing a vcal
makes it new to your calendar, its not a new item.

OK, then is there a tag that can be used in a vcal that will set the
reminder? I could never find one, but perhaps I was looking in the
wrong places.
