Verify Infrastructure Update Installation From SQL?

Q

Quized again

MOPS 2007 on 3 boxes: SQL, WebFE, App Server. SP1 and the infrastructure
Update are installed. The system works ok except for slow save times which
the August Update is supposed to address. But before I install that, I want
to be sure all is well.

According to the MS Technet article on installing the IU, here are the steps
to verify the installation of the IU.

"Choose one of the Office Project Server 2007 databases from the Available
Databases dropdown list. Type select * from versions in the query window and
then click Execute. The most recent version number in the Version field
should be 12.0.6322.5000"

Yet the SQL databases on my system are returning different version numbers
than this. And I did not see how the databases were even affected by the IU.
My latest versions are 12.1.162.0 at time=5:17:26:15.700 and 12.0.6318.5000
at time=5:17:26:40.153

I could not even run the update on the SQL box because I received "there are
no products that apply to this update.." message.

The version of MOPS2007 on the App box shows Version 12.0.6219.1000

Have I done something wrong?

Also, the application logs show successful installation of the Infrastructure
Update on the WebFE and App server.

Any idea why my database version query shows different than what the Technet
article says it should?

Thanks for your help.

I installed the August Update to my servers and now the database versions
match what they should be.

I got pretty much same issue with the infrastructure update, which I also
posted but no one has answered. I'll try the August update.

Re: the infrastructure update -- Config Wizard said successful. WSS 3.0 and
MOPS in Add/Remove Programs still shows 6219 (SP1 level) although both
infrastructure updates are listed as installed.

On the MOPS server, Central Admin, Operations, Servers in Farm (I only have
one MOPS server (web/app) and one SQL server.) and Site Settings for all
sites including top-level, pwa, and team sites show 6318. However, the WSS
and PSERVER registry keys DisplayVersion show 6219.

In SQL Management Studio, all but my SharedServices1_DB is showing the
update 6318 version when I do a SELECT * FROM Versions on each database. The
SharedServices1_DB shows 6219.

Trying psconfig -cmd upgrade b2b -wait -force, which a blog post I found
googling suggested for SP1 schema mismatch, did nothing to resolve issue.
(psconfig ran and said successful so obviously it does not see there is an
issue.) Trying to reinstall the updates got message "already installed" (WSS)
and "no products apply to this update" (MOPS). Extracting the files then
applying Pjsrvapp-x-none.msp (another blog post about updating schema of a
restored db that was at RTM level) did nothing and then running psconfig
command again also did nothing.

One thing -- the Upgrade.log SP1 entries show that for the
SharedServices1_DB, CanUpgrade = True and NeedsUpgrade = True, and then a
whole bunch of lines indicating the db was updated. But the Infrastructure
Update entries show CanUpgrade = True and NeedsUpgrade = False and no bunch
of lines.

Curiously, I seem to be missing some of the files listed in the KB 951297
for MOPS -- here are the dll files I've checked for so far and can't find:

microsoft.office.project.pi.dll
microsoft.office.project.schema.dll
microsoft.office.project.server.dll
microsoft.office.project.server.queueing.dll
microsoft.office.project.upgrade.dll
microsoft.office.project.webservice.dll
microsoft.office.project.webproj.dll
microsoft.office.project.server.pwa

I assume they should be somewhere (I searched all hard drive, hidden &
system files) but I can't say if they were present before infrastructure
update cause I never went looking for them.

I'd sure like to know what happened.

The "missing" dlls are in the windows\assembly folder. Wish the update KB
noted file locations. Thanks to a totally unrelated MSDN article that
mentioned the microsoft.office.project.dll I knew where to look.
