Version Conflicts

I work in Visio 2000. I email my drawing as well as burn them to disk for delivery to recipients. They are using Visio 5.0. When they open the drawing, there are all kinds of problems. Missing data, overlay, etc. I went to the option screen in v. 2000 and selected to save files in Visio 5 format. The problem persists. I have now purchased Visio 5.0 to eliminate the problem but another one has come to surface. Visio 5 will not open any of the files I created in visio 2000 although I saved them in visio 5 format. Can anyone help with this problem?

I don't have an answer for why Visio 5 cannot open V2000 files saved as V5.
However, Visio 2000 represented a major change in functionality from Visio
5, so it is not surprising that information is lost when going backwards.
Any new features (including a lot of the shapes) would be discarded going
backward.
