I have an older PC Pentium 2 266 running Windows 98SE. I
currently have Office 97 on there and need to upgrade to
Office 2000 or XP. Can I run Office 2000 or Office XP on a
Windows 98Se machine of does the OS need to be 2000 or
better??

Hi.

You would be able to have either Office 2000 or xp on your system; I am
not so sure about 2003. You could choose to have 2000, because it will
run faster on your machine than xp.

You must upgrade your computer's RAM memory to 128megabytes. The link
given will help you to see information regarding office xp, like system
requirements and so on.

A previous post was not sure if Office 2000 was officially available in
computer stores...

As an alternative, I could run OpenOffice on a similar system to yours,
which has 64M RAM, but the computer barely met the minimum requirements.
You can download OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org . As with any
new software, it will require some learning curve.
