Vertical Alignment = Top on page 2

When creating a MS WORD template, is there anyway in the page setup to
indicate CENTER vertical alignment only for page 1, anything beyond page 1
should have TOP vertical alignment. The option of "JUSTIFY" allows for too
much spacing between text and images. Is it possible to do a statement like
this in the footer of the document, {IF{PAGE}>1"verticalalignment=top"}}

Vertical alignment is a section property. Therefore you need to put a
section break between pages 1 & 2, and then you can set the vertical
alignment independently in the 2 sections.

Alternatively, place a 1-row 1-column table on the first page, and set the
vertical alignment of the table cell to be centered

No, it isn't possible to do this on a conditional basis, and certainly not
through any kind of field.

The vertical alignment is a section-related property, so in order to have
two different values in the same document you must have at least two
sections separated by a section break.

If you put a section break in the template, then every document based on it
is going to have at least two pages. Worse, you cannot start typing text on
the first page and have it continue across the section break onto the second
page -- the text will "push" the section break ahead of it.

It's unclear what effect you're trying to achieve on the first page -- the
vertical alignments of center and justify don't have anything like similar
effects. If you can do what you want with just a larger header and/or footer
on the first page, there are a couple of ways to achieve that; see

I don't know that I can fix this problem. Letters are created
programmatically, conditions apply that determine if it's a one page or two
page letter. I cannot have a section break in my template since it would
always give me a two page letter, I'll have to rethink this process. Thanks
for the posts, and Jay thank you for the template link.
