anybody know what happened to Word's vertical delete
feature?
you might also call it column delete or column select. It
involves defining a rectangular area of text and then
deleting everything in it or running search & replace.
It's a shortcut that gives the same result as working with
text inside a table but you don't have to create and
format a table.
To define your area of text:
1. position cursor at a corner of the rectangle
2. hold down SHIFT and ALT keys
3. left-click once and drag cursor with mouse
4. release mouse button when you've defined the area
this does NOT work in Word 2003, but it does (did) work in
XP and all earlier versions. Anybody know where they put
it? Or if any MS person will dare to admit that the dev
team killed it, why wasn't somebody shot? <g>
