Vertical labels in graphs problem

M

Mac-n-Cheese

I am trying to add vertical labels (dates) along the x-axis of an Excel
graph (scatterplot, with connecting lines). Excel seems to try to
"fit" the text into the space it used for the normal (horizontal)
label, thus creating illegible rubbish... When I then open the file on
a Windows machine (yuck!), the labels appear correctly(!!). -- Of
course that doesn't really help, since I need to wrok with the graph on
my Mac.

Is this a bug in Excel 2004 (same issue with Excel X? Is there a way
around it? Can anyone help?

Hi Mac-n-cheese,

I saw something that seemed irregular with the data labels on the X-axis
when I tried to format them in a quick n dirty example I made up.

Are you using the Format dialog to try to rotate the text? Give that a try.
If things are still not working right, please email a copy of a sample so I
can see if it behaves the same on my computer.

You should be able to figure out my email address (warmer than warm = hot).
