vertical line to left of paragraph

I have a document which has a vertical line to the left of several
paragraphs, and I don't see how to get rid of it.

The author has used the 'compare and merge' feature, and I suspect that it
came from there. Still, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete it.

The line stops and ends with the paragraph breaks. I turned on the paragraph
breaks to see if I could see anything unusual, but no such luck.

Anyone know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks. Jan

Is there a way to accept all changes at once?

It's a change bar. You need to accept all changes in the document to get rid
of it.

You could also go to Tools > Track Changes > Highlight
changes and uncheck the "Highlight changes" boxes, or
uncheck all of the boxes if you want to turn off the
option.

In Word 2002, if you click the down arrow beside the Accept Change button on
the Reviewing toolbar, you'll get a menu that includes Accept All Changes in
Document. I never used Track Changes in previous versions, so I'm vague on
how this is handled in those versions.
