Vertical scroll bar display

Using Access ’03…

I have a listbox on a form with about 10 values. The listbox is sized
to show 4 values, which means it utilizes a vertical scroll.

I’ve set the default value of the listbox (when the form opens) to one
of the choices about halfway down the list; i.e., number 5 on the
list.

The listbox works fine; here’s my question, however.

When the form opens and the listbox default value is set, the user can
obviously choose any value on the list. But the scroll bar button/
handle is at the top of vertical scroll bar (even though a value is
highlighted halfway down), making the user think he/she is at the top
of the list, when in fact he/she is in the middle.

If you click the handle and drag it up or down, it will display
properly; e.g., the handle will be in the middle of the scroll bar
when a middle list value is selected/displayed.

Has anyone run into this issue before?

Your problem is the size of the listbox -- any chance you can make it
bigger? The scroll bar may appear
to be at the top, but is really one or two records off. You can demonstrate
this by making the listbox larger.
Another alternative may be to set the font size of the listbox smaller,
which will show more items in the list.

Thanks Damon for your help!
I really do not want to adjust the size of the listbox...I may just
have to live with it.
