Vertical Toolbars?

In Mac Office 2004, in Word, is there any way to put the toolbar to the side
of a document (that is vertically), rather than on the top or bottom?
Appleworks allows this, and it is very convenient because a toolbar at the
top or bottom of the document reduces how much of the document I can
see on my rectangular screen.

Drag the toolbar's resize handle (in the lower right corner) down and to
the left until the toolbar is vertical. It may dock by itself, or you
may need to reposition it to the left dock using the toolbar's titlebar
