very slow pull down menus

most if not all the time the pull down menus are very slow (like when saving
a file or attching a file to an e-mail, which require navigating thru the
directories. any idea why this is happenning?

If you have mapped drives that are disconnected, either connect them or
unmap them prior to exploring the directories for attachments.
