Very Slow Updates

I have a Project in Server 2003 that takes a VERY long time to update after
the manager approves time. In a typical week, five resources charge to about
10 tasks. The project itelf is about 24 months old and contains about 120
tasks. A total of 1700 days of effort has been charged project-to-date

Update for a typical week's worth of submissions takes more than three
minutes. This has been tested on three machines using two different manager
accounts (i.e. changing the owner of the tasks). Results are always the same
- About three minutes.

This is an order of magnitude longer than the update speed to any similar
project. What could cause this?

Thanks Gary,

I did this rebuild of the binary data today. I'll report back on the
performance at the start of next week when I have some data to update.

I had the same problem (with an Administrative Project) and your fix worked
great for me. Thank you Gary.

Hi Gary,

I also faced the issue of project file giving error of circular reference
few days back and your solution works excellent. Thanks.

But i faced one issue of few tasks missing or getting messed up, which i
repaired manually. Is there any automatic process / tools available to
repair the database of project server?

Jinesh:

None that I know of other than standard SQL maintenance tools.
