Hui David:
They are "bookmarks". They should disappear if you:
A) Do not copy text that is contained by a bookmark, or
B) Use Word>Preferences>View to disable the display of bookmarks.
Personally, I would leave them there: they are a useful reminder that if you
edit to close to them, you may break your document.
