Very weird display problems - please help!

I'm getting strange display problems in Entourage 2004. They just
started yesterday - prior to that it was working fine.

Seems that the fonts in the dialog boxes (new email window, new
calendar event, etc) are not displaying properly. They're much larger
than usual. And the alignment is messed up. For example, when I
create a new email, the email addresses I enter are aligned to the far
right of the address window, and so is the subject line. In both
cases the font is also much larger than normal.

If I quit Entourage and restart, it solves the problem for a minute or
two. Then it comes right back. I've tried restarting the computer.
Same story. Solves the problem for a minute, then starts up again.

What can I do? This is minor but very annoying.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Don't know if you have received any feedback, but just wanted to let
you know you are not the only one with this problem. There are many
threads on this board with the same issue. It is related to viewing a
message with complex HTML, and starts with the first such message you
view after launching. There's no fix yet from MS, but hopefully it
will come soon. In the meantime, you can either quit and relaunch
whenever the problem arises, or turn off Display complex HTML in the
Security pane of Entourage's Preferences. If you don't get many HTML
messages, this is your best bet.

Hello all, I too have this problem. It really makes you hate Microsoft...
Do they test their software before selling it?? Anyway, I'm going to try
what James suggested about turning off the Complex HTML. Thanks for the
fix.

They have hundreds of in-house testers and external beta-testers, testing
hard over the course of a year or so before release. If none of the testers
hits this problem, then they won't know about it until after release. This
complex HTML thing is a not a problem everyone gets - I don't see it at all,
ever, for example. It does seem to be fairly widespread, but not so
universal that any tester hit it.
