Video and audio records-- audio does not play back

I have a Canon HV30 mini DV connected via firewire to my pc. I can record and
playback video and audio to Movie Maker. but in OneNote 2007, when I record
video, I can see the video, and hear the audio recording playing through the
pc, but upon playback all I get is the video.

The Camera is recognized on my pc and in the onenote audio/video settings
area (see this screen capture: http://screencast.com/t/BIR1drH9). But the
audio doesn't seem to get recorded.

I have a similar problem. I record audio with my laptop mic in OneNote 2007
and the audio won't play back. My mic works in other applications. Does
anyone know what the problem is?

According to MS tech support, it is because One Note needs to have a seperate
audio and video device feeding it. One assembles the output of these devices
into one wmv file. So my digital video camera is only recognized by onenote
as a video device, but not an audio and video device. This is the same thing
I see when viewing audio devices in the sound control panel.
