Video doesn't appear in projected image

Using XP pro SP1, Powerpoint 2002, I've inserted a video clip in mpeg. When I view the show, the video clip plays perfectly on my notebook screen but on my projected image, once the video starts playing, it turns into a black box. The rest of the slide is still visible. DirectX is 9.0b and the video plays fine in mplay.exe.

Michael,

Some projectors and laptops do this. Can you force the video out by only
displaying on the projector?

Videos play correctly on computer but not on projector (black box)

Yes, if I sent the notebook to dual monitor settings. When I open the PPS, the video plays perfectly. Unfortunately, my sales reps don't always their projectors. Sometimes they only use the notebook screen if they are presenting to one or two clients. If they try to open the show without the projector attached, they can't see anything on the notebook screen

when this happened to me the only thing that helped was
decreasing the hardware acceleration

right click on the desktop
properties
settings
advanced
troubleshoot
hardware acceleration

i went grey trying many tips including file name
shortening.......
