Video doesn't work with Autorun CD

Hi

I have a fairly complex PPT 2003 presentation with links to a bunch of other
presentations, and 6 mpeg video clips and 2 .wav files. My presentation and
all of my linked files are contained within one folder. I have changed all
of my presentations to PowerPoint shows because I want them to run
automatically as shows. I have changed all of my links to link to the .pps
files. When I just copy that folder onto a CD, all of my links and video
work, but I need to copy the PowerPoint Viewer on as well, so I have tried
two options which aren't working.

Package for CD - error message 'PowerPoint couldn't process the linked file
....ppt. Do you want to continue anyway?' It seems to be looking for the
old ppt files, which I have in a different folder, even though I have
re-established all of the links so that they link to the pps files.

Autorun CD with PowerLinkPlus - (this is brilliant by the way Sonia - the
client was totally impressed!) everything worked except for the video.
There are 6 videos (all mpegs), and when I run PowerLink, it doesn't seem to
be able to find the video, even though it's in the same file as everything
else. It asks if I want to find the files myself, which I do, but the links
to them don't work when I burn the CD. I went back and deleted all of the
video files and re-inserted them, then tried again, and that didn't work.
The audio files worked well though.

I would prefer to use the Autorun CD - can someone help me please?

Thank you!
Christina

Christina,

Just reading through your question.

Can I check that you have the mpeg video clips in the same directory as your
powerpoint file (.ppt or .pps). They must be in the same directory *Before*
you "insert video clips from file" in powerpoint.

Yes, they have always been saved in the same directory as the presentation.

If you have PowerPoint 2003, stick with Package for CD becaue it works
exactly like PowerLink Plus except that it tells you when you have a broken
link and gives you an opportunity to fix it. By the way, since you are
going to be running the presentation in the Viewer, there is no need to make
the files PPS. The Viewer always runs in Slide Show mode, and even once in
Slide Show mode, even in PowerPoint, all linked presentations are opened in
Slide Show mode.

However, having run PowerLink Plus, it's important that you read the message
displayed very carefully. It sounds like you may have a link to a filename
that no longer exists or has been renamed and is slightly different - -
perhaps by just one character or space. Having changed all of the file
names, you might have missed changing one of the links.

You can test the presentation in PowerPoint and find where the problem is.
Change the old folder name slightly (add a character to the name) and then
open PowerPoint, open the presentation, run it in Slide Show mode and test
all of the links. See if one of them doesn't work. That will be the one to
focus on.

Remember, just moving the video files to a different folder will break the
links. If you move *anything*, you'll need to re-link it.

Thank you! I had a link on one of my masters that I wasn't using & that
seems to be what was doing it.

& thanks for the tip on not making my files PPS!
