Hi
I have put a play button on a slide and linked it to a AVI file. but
when I run the slideshow, then click the "play" button, it only takes me
out of Powerpoint and wants me to find the file. It will not auto run.
I am using Office 2003.
Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry,
That is because the video isn't really inserted to your slideshow. You
could try the following steps to insert the video.
1. Insert menu -> Movies and Sounds -> Movie from File.
2. Double click the video you want to insert.
3. After you click OK, you're prompted with a message asking “how you
want the movie to start in the slide show.”
Click “Automatically” to play the movie automatically when you go to
the slide.
Click “When Clicked” to play the movie when you click.
Even though the video is inserted to the presentation, you cannot
transfer the video directly to others computers or Email to others to
make the video play well. Movies and videos are linked to PowerPoint
presentation, when you Email the PowerPoint presentation or transfer
the presentation to other computers, the linked videos will not be
shown.
Solution:
1. Put the video files and the PowerPoint presentation in a same
folder.
2. Reinsert the video file to the PowerPoint presentation.
3. Package the entire folder into one archive file and send it to
others or other computers.
Alternatively, you could transfer your PowerPoint presentation to
Flash use 3rd party presentation tools, PPT2Flash (
http://snipurl.com/
ppt2flash), Articulate presenter (
http://www.articulate.com/products/
presenter.php), powerflashpoint, for instance. It can help you create
Flash-based presentation with all the original effects retained. Of
course, all the video files will be embedded in the presentation.
With regards.
