my wife has a lenovo T61 running XP and Microsoft Office 7. She is trying to
run a "canned" presentation that was written in Powerpoint 3 and includes
video files.
I open up Powerpoint 07 and pull up the Presentation. When I first open and
click on the first slide the associated video file operates as expected.
Subsequent files or slides don't open and powerpoint freezes.
If I control-alt-delete out and repeat the process, powderpoint freezes as
soon as I click on the first video file, until I reboot the machine.
The problem seems to be fixed if I set the "graphics accelerator" to any of
the three lowest settings. Questions:
1) should just leave the accelerator at the highest setting that works and
tell my wife I "fixed" the problem?
2) if I did, is she ever likely to find out or care?
3) does the "accelerator fix" point to a more appropriate solution?
The problem seems associated with Powerpoint 7 as the video player plays
all the associated video files normally.
