Video plays when clicked but not in animation

Presentation from ppt 2003. Avi movie inserted vai the insert movie command
and then animated to begin playing on click.

Move the file and avi to the mac - ppt 2004 with OS X panther.

If I see the slide in slide view and double click the movie it plays no
problem. If I try to play it in the presentation in show view, the movie
will not play.

Why?
