View assignments by Custom Enterprise Resource Text field

In our construction business, I have our resources setup in the ERP with a
custom enterprise resource text field I called "Sub-Group." I have all the
resources assigned to a sub-group - Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc. I want
to be able to run a report that pulls up all resources within a certain
sub-group and shows the project, resource, task, & % complete for each
assignment. I've tried to do this in Manage Views under View resource
assignments and Portfolio Analyzer, but I'm striking out. Can I get some
direction? Thanks!!!!!

There nowhere in the interface using out-of-the-box tools that allows you to
create this exact view. You can build this using SQL reporting services or
Crystal reports against the database.

What about using the Resource Group field instead of the custom ER text field?
