View document properties menu?

I have a daft question, we are using Project Server 2003 sp2.

I am attempting to re design the public Share Point page.

I have added in a web part, but the usual web parts allow access to a
document via a drop down arrow, with the usual view properties, edit
properties etc. The new web part doesn't give this option. I have
compared views but I can't see any differences at the moment.

How do I go about switching this option on.

I'm not sure that I can help you, but I don't think that anyone can unless
you be a bit more specific. "I have added in a web part" is not very
specific.
