View Populator not publishing new tasks

Kevin

I have 2 questions:

1) Why does View Populator not work for me? I'm using PDS to add tasks to
several project plans. I then use View Populator to republish those plans
which it tells me it did successfully. However, I can't see the new tasks in
PWA until I go into Project client and republish. Is there something I'm
doing wrong? Isn't this what the tool is designed to do? (OK, so this is
really several questions).

2) There was mention in a previous post ("Projects do not get Published"
11/22) that you can set up a regular job to run View
Populator. Assuming I can get #1 resolved, I'd like to do this in a
scheduled
job so that I don't have to do it myself everytime there are new tasks added.
Is there a command like interface that is not published? Or is there some
other way you can run this as a scheduled task?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin:
1. there are two parts to a publish.
a. Populate the msp_views tables this is what the view populator tool does
b. Publish the assignments so resources can see their tasks and on the
timesheet. This can only be done by Project Pro.
2. you can’t run view populator as a batch job, it is gui only. Some
people have tried to automate Project pro to do this but with only fair luck.

Thanks for clarifying. That's really bad news for us. We have automated
adding new tasks and assignments from a home-grown iteration planning tool
(XP style), but we still have to have a PM open each project plan and
republish every time new tasks are added. This is an administrative
bottleneck that we'd really like to do away with.

Any ideas?
