iMac Flat-panel 17" 1GHz/G4/1.25GB RAM Mac OS 10.4.11 MS OFC 2004: Text refuses to view/print as Body Text: Times New Roman/Black/12pt. What have I done wrong? (I have 15 whole chapters now in red/italics!)
Are you seeing text that you thought you deleted still present, and in
red/italics? In that case, you accidentally turned on track changes,
and you need to bring up the reviewing toolbar and Accept All Changes to
truly delete that text.
If that's not it, please give more detail about what you did, what you
expected to happened, and what happened instead.
Noticed all text was 'HTML Defs', in red/italics.
Tried opening in Word/Master doc, "Demote To Text" and didn't help. Do I have to completely re-type my docs over again in Body Text as new doc?
Are you using Word's Master Document feature? What did you hope Demote
to Text would do?
No, you don't need to re-type. I still can't tell what the problem might
be from your lack of information, but the worst case scenario would
probably be to copy it all and use Edit | Paste Special into a new
document, experimenting with the different paste special options to see
which serves you best. There may be an easier option, can't tell.
You might also try selecting the misformatted text, and using the
options on the Format menu or Formatting Palette to change its appearance.
I'm so a nerd: When I opened a .doc (a chapter), the style-box indicated it was 'HTML definition' and all the text was red, in italics. I panicked and went to 'master doc' in Word; got nowhere.
So I'll try the worst-scenario you mentioned: copy/edit/paste special w/paste spec. options.
Well, first try selecting everything and using the style box to apply a
different style.
