View Resource Assignments

Griff

I have been testing Project Server 2003 for a while and then recently
installed Project Server 2003 SP1. Since then I have been getting frequent
problems on the view resource assignments page.
Often after selecting one or more resources and clicking apply, the area
where the list should be appears blank (there is actually a very small dot
like a full stop under the links bar). Refreshing the page doesn't solve the
problem but clicking current or all assignments often does.
The number of tasks that should be displayed does not seem to matter,
neither does the number of resources selected. The problem occurs in both the
Timesheet and Gantt Chart formats and also for current and all assignments.
Has anybody got any ideas why this might be happening? Is it a known issue
with SP1? More importantly is there a fix?

I have this exact problem (see my post on 4/12 above "Resource Timesheets").
The problem appeared from nowhere (i.e it was not the result of a system
upgrade or sevice pack addition) I've been unable to solve or even identify
the problem, If I find a solution I'll post it here, perhaps you'd do
likewise?

Thanks Martin, will do.
Out of interest do you know if you have got SP1 installed on your system? If
not I'm probably barking up the wrong tree!

Hi Gary

I looked into upgrading MDAC on the server over the weekend but I appear to
already have the latest version which I think ships with Windows server 2003.
I have since experienced 2 other errors, but only once each so I don't know
if they are related:

Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'
'rsRes.RecordCount' is null or not an object
/projectserver/Views/WebclientView.asp, line 552

and

Error '80004005'
/projectserver/Views/WebclientView.asp, line 258

It is if you've installed SP1

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem and also have SP1 installed. Sometimes, I
select 10 other resources that I don't want to see and click apply and the
view displays correctly. Nevertheless, it's not a good solution and I would
really like to know how to recover this problem.

Andrea:

You may have the same symptoms, but we can't tell from your post whether
it's the same problem. Make sure that MDAC 2.8 is applied on the
workstations and the server. SP1 for Windows Server 2003, includes this MDAC
upgrade, not SP1 for Project Server.
