View source file greyed out when doing mail merge!

Creating an ad hoc query in SAP and opting for Word Processing, results in
the creation of a file named WORDFOLE.

With Word 2000 I am able to edit the source file in a spread sheet format
(the data is in caps and needs to be converted to title case); with Word
2003, the view source file option is greyed out. Help! No way can I edit
each letter individually!!

There are two things that you can do:

From the Tools menu, select Customize and then on the Commands tab of the
Customize dialog, select the All Commands category and then scroll down
through the list of commands until you come across the Mail Merge Helper
item. Click and drag it onto the toolbar. That will allow you to use the
old interface to mailmerge (as in 2000).

Alternatively, create a Directory type mailmerge main document based on the
same datasource in which you have the merge fields in the cells of a one row
table in the document. Execute that merge to a new document and you will
get a table containing the data. Insert a row at the top of the table into
the cells of which you enter mergefield names and then edit the data as
required before saving the file and then using it as the data source for the
merge that you originally wanted to create.
