View Timesheet question

Does the right to view ones timesheet automatically convey the right to
enter hours and update them on published tasks? A friend has an
installation where one resource can see their task but not enter time
on it.

Yes. If a user can view his/her timesheet in PWA, then he/she can also
enter actuals against tasks. So the question is: What is unusual about
this task? Is it delegated to someone else, for example? If you can go to
that user's PC, ask him/her to log into PWA and then look at the task with
your own eyes and determine what is unusual about this task, if anything.
Also, take note what columns are unlocked for editing, if any. Let us know
what you find.

I might not get a lot of feedback on this one. My thoughts were that
the resource, although assigned might not have any available time.
Occurs to me, now, that it might also be that they're not showing all
outline levels.

Not sure what you mean about columns unlocked for editing.

(I promise I will buy Gary and your books, now that I'm gainfully
employed again, instead of dropping by Reiters bookstore every other
day)

The lack of availability will not cause this behavior in the PWA timesheet,
so cross that off the list of possible causes. I'm curious why you won't
get feedback on this issue, however. Are you not able to go to this user's
workstation to see what's going on there? If not, it is going to be
difficult to find the source of the problem.

When I talk about "unlocked for editing", what I means is that the cells are
formatted with a white background and allow the user to enter data in the
cells. What I am wondering is if the Actual Work, Percent Complete, or
Remaining Work columns are unlocked for editing on this task, instead of the
Actual Work cells in the timesheet grid on the right side of the timesheet
page. Let us know what you find, if anything.

Also, since you are gainfully employed (yippee!), why don't you have your
EMPLOYER buy the books? :)

This was a question brought to me by somebody who knows a Project
Server administrator in another organization. Not my system, for a
change :)

My company did offer to reimburse me for your books. But if I move on
I would then have to leave them behind and that means it might not be
appropriate to highlight and add notes in the meantime... or
autographs. :)

Oh, and I gave them a copy of my wish list of books, and introduced
them to this forum as well. :)
