View vacation time on a calendar?

My client has a calendar application that allows employees to enter their
vacation time and the calendar is viewable to all of the organization. I want
to replace this with Project Server 2007 functionality. I know how to set up
PS to allow users to enter their vacation requests and have them routed to
supervisor for approval. What I need to know is how to present a view to the
entire organization of all the vacation time that has been approved. I would
like it to be listed by date and then the employees that will be on vacation
for that date. How do I setup this view?

Hi Calvin,
The information that you are after should be in the reporting database of
Project Server and therefore you should be able to write a report that gives
you this information. Alternatively you may want to check out the OLAP cubes
which will also give you timesheet related information
Hope this helps

What I want is a dynamic view of ALL vacation time that can be viewed by
anyone in the organization. When I go to create a view, I don't see the
fields where the Administrative time is captured, specifically the vacation
time. Can I create a view that will reflect data in a cube?

Thanks for your reply but I really don't want to keep the other application
around. The data capture and approval process that exists in Project Server
is better than the current application. Surely there is a way to create a
view of the data that Project Server has stored for Administrative time?
Anyone?

Hard to imagine, but if you say so... Yes, you can create reports/view of
this data but it isn't exposed directly in the database. You will need to
use the PSI to create a custom application. Ask your follow-up dev questions
in microsoft.public.project.developer
