"View Yr Remote Website" after publish does not work

Folks--

This is a repost. There was one response to prior post, and that produced no
success.

I have FrontPage 2003 and have been using it successfully for a year or
nearly that. Suddenly, the part of FrontPage 2003 that comes up after you
publish, the "View Your Remote Website" link, doesn't work at all
anymore--why would that be?

I have recently installed SP2.

I installed and removed Outlook (not Outlook Express which has always been
installed).

Any help with this one?

Many thanks--

OK, here's another piece of information.

I just removed Frontpage 2003 entirely, rebooted. then reinstalled it from
the original disk.

Then I republished a site.

Then I clicked on "View Your Remote Website" at lower left of the publishing
panel.

Nothing happened. The "View Your Remote Website" still does not work after
removal and reinstallation of the program.

Does this sound as if SP2 (or MS Outlook, which I installed and then
removed) has somehow changed some basic setting that allows clicked links to
open IE? Recently I had a similar problem with Outlook Express, and I had
to run some "dll" program and then reset Internet/Options/Programs to get it
links sent to me in email work again.

Very annoying.

What happen when you first open a web via File Menu | Open Site. The first site you open is your
local, and the one you will publish to is the remote. If you haven't publish the local site to the
remote server, then View your remote site will not be active.

Tom, thanks. But, of course, I "published" my local version to the website
BEFORE trying to use the "View Your Remote Website" link.

Also, the link is "active" at least in the sense of not being grayed-out,
that is, it APPEARS TO BE ACTIVE just like the other two links there in the
lower lefthand corner of the publish panel, but when you click the
apparently active link, it does not function.

THe fact is that something has broken this link and I can't figure out what.
I have no problem going to the link with my browser, and I have no problem
viewing local webs as i work on them with my browser, but this particular
function has CEASED TO WORK.

I'm stunned that a complete reinstall did not fix it, which is why i'm
looking for other possible causes (like SP2).

I appreciate your effort to help and look forward to any other suggestions
you might have.

Another point: the two other links on teh "Remote Web site" tab under
Status: at the bottom left of the publishing panel, "View Your Publish Log
File" and "Open your Remote Web site in FrontPage" both CONTINUE TO WORK
exactly as they always have. It's only the middle link, which is "hot" and
causes the cursor to change from an arrow to a hand with pointing finger (as
do the others), that doe snot work. A click on this middle link makes the
link "blink" (actually it's the dotted rectangle around the link that blinks
once when clicked) but nothing happens.

cheers & thanks in advance for all suggestions--

Thanks. Tried turning pop-up blocker completely off. No joy.

Also did "Detect & Repair" from the Help menu. No help there.

It's craziness.

I could reinstall Outlook. I don't use it, but you're wondering if some
capability was lost on the deinstallation of Outlook? This problem appeared
after I had installed Outlook and before I removed it.

But I will try a reinstallation (and removal) of Outlook if you think that
will provide information.

Cheers--
