Viewer / Reader

Paul P \(NZ\)

I have a client who periodically receive Project files
from a company they're doing a joint deelopment with. As
it is very seldom that these are receeived and that
they're for their information only, they cannot justify
the expense of purchasing a full version of Project. They
have asked me about the possibility of a viewer / reader.

Does anyone know if MS have ever provided such a thing?
All their other products seem to have one.

There is no Project reader/viewer. Save as a web page or print to a PDF file
(using Acrobat or other utility.)

I use an application from Afinion called "Project on Web Viewer"
(http://www.afinion.com/). This application works exteremely well for us as
we recieve MPP files quite often and need to view them and/or print them
out. However, we do not have the need to manipulate or create our own MPP
files so owning MS Project is not really necessary. Unlike other viewers,
Project on Web Viewer reads the native MPP file so there is no need for the
creator of the MPP file to convert it to another format. While it is not a
free viewer, Project on Web Viewer has met my needs quite well and is very
cost effective (it is better then shelling out the total cost of a full MS
Project license). I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps. Post
back if you have other questions.

Hi Paul

Many Project users purchase KIDASA's Milestones Project Companion
software to generate distributable project schedules. The Project
manager would install both products and then use Milestones Project
Companion to create a "published" schedule. Once created, the
Milestones schedule can be distributed to others who can view it with
the free Milestones viewer.

Here is a link where you can look for more information if you are
