Viewing a previously saved version

I have been saving a Word document file but have lost the latest version.
How can I view/retrieve a previoucly saved version of the document? I have
not closed (I don't think) or deleted the file. Hope you can help.

Was this a document that you opened from an e-mail message - you should
never open Word attachments directly from e-mail - however it *may* be
possible to recover your changes. See
http://www.gmayor.com/outlook_attachments.htm .

Otherwise, if you saved the document, the last saved version should be in
the folder where you saved it.

If you closed without saving, it is gone.

Did you perhaps leave an unsaved document loaded and the PC unattended while
the PC allowed automatic updates to install and reboot?

Thank you very much for your reply - but I don't seem to have a temporary
internet files folder! I only have a Temp folder.
So I guess I should start re-typing?

You will have a temporary internet folder - it will also be hidden.
