Viewing a Roll Up In the Gantt Chart

Is it possible to roll up a number field into a summary task and have it show
the sum in the Gantt chart and not just the grid?

Yes you can do that.

I could not tell from your post if you had already figured out how to make
the number field roll-up and sum on the Summary line.

I will assume you did so respond if help is needed on that.

To get it to show on the summary line: in a gantt view, select format bar
styles, select your summary bar. Then click on the text tab at the bottom of
the window and enter you number field where you want it.

Actually, I haven't been able to get the Sum to work properly. It's just
layering one number on top of another creating a jumbled looking mess.

Ok here's how to get the values in the "Number" field you are using to
roll-up to the summary line.


Tools
Customize
Fields
Type=Number
Select your number field
Second option line down "Calculation for task and group summary rows":
select roll-up
Select "sum"

Should roll up to the summary line in the grid section

Let me know what else you need for the tgantt. But it's a matter of
formatting the task bar styles or just one bar.
