viewing bcc names after sending email

After I send an email to people all listed in the bcc section I can't retrieve those email addresses (ie, when I click on the sent message the names aren't showing up at all and the bcc field is blank). How can I retrieve those names/email addresses to remember who I actually sent it to?

Thanks.

I don't think you can. Entourage doesn't save or display the BCC addresses;
that's what makes them "Blind".

BCC recipients will not show in the Preview Pane, but if you
double-click to open a message into its own window they will show.

ACTUALLY, THAT DOESN'T WORK. THE ONLY EMAIL ADDRESS THAT SHOWS UP IS MY OWN EMAIL ADDRESS IN "TO" AND I DIDN'T EVEN INCLUDE MYSELF ON THE EMAIL LIST. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

Did you send the mail to an Address Book Group? That's the behavior
when you instruct Entourage not to display the recipients of the Group.

I just clicked on separate email addresses in my address book.

If you open the message into its own window by double-clicking it in the
message pane, you'll see the Bcc header line. If it is a group name,
Control-click on name and select Expand Group. If it is a list of names and
not all are showing, just click on the Bcc line and a window will popup
showing all names.

ACTUALLY, WHEN I OPEN THE MESSAGE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY TO VIEW THE
BCC HEADER. ONLY THE "TO" FIELD SHOWS UP AND ONLY MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS
IN IT (THOUGH I DIDN'T ACTUALLY INCLUDE MY EMAIL ADDRESS WHEN I SENT
IT). I DID NOT SEND TO A GROUP, JUST TO SELECTED ADDRESSES IN MY
ADDRESS BOOK. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

When I open the message from Sent Items in Entourage 2004, it does show the
BCC line with all the BCC recipients. I overlooked that when I tried it last
night!

What happens when you double-click on the message from Sent Items (or select
it and choose File>Open Message)? What do you see on the TO and BCC lines?

I don't see the bcc line at all, and in the "to" line it shows my
gmail address, which I sent it from but actually I didn't include my
address in the bcc list.

Very interesting. I wonder if this behavior changed from E2004 to E2008 or
if there's a problem with your installation. I refuse to get Office 2008, so
I can't check it myself.

This did not change in Entourage 2008. It *should* be working.

A couple of thoughts come to mind. I might be wrong, but this might not be
an Entourage problem at all. First of all, I tested in 2008 and found that I
could send a message with nothing in the To line and something else in the
BCC line (an external email address that forwards to me). I was able to go
to my Sent Items folder and see the message as I expected (no To line
showing at all and the other address visible in the BCC line). One thought
comes to mind is that you are looking in the wrong place. If you look at the
message you received (in your Inbox) rather than the message you sent (in
your Sent Items), you will not be able to see the BCC addresses.

The other thought is that GMAIL might be involved here. I don't use GMAIL so
I can't test this out, but it might be that GMAIL is forcing you to have
something in the TO line, and in this case, if you have nothing, it will put
your own address there.

Just did a test and sent an email from my Verizon account in Entourage
and the BCC showed up. So, in fact it does seem to be gmail related.
Ugh. Is there anything I can do about that as I'm about to get rid of
my Verizon account?

And incidentally, on top of everything else today I can't seem to
reply through the Mactopia page by pressing reply at:
http://www.officeformac.com/ms?13@@.59b77a62/10#addcomment, but
instead have to correspond through Google groups (http://
groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage/
browse_thread/thread/46cc116dc478d804_) which includes using typing in
a validation set of characters (ie, CAPTCHA). Any idea what's going on
there?

Apparently the problem is related to gmail. It seems that the bcc is
visible when I send through entourage in my verizon account, which I'm
about to get rid of, but not gmail. Any ideas?

If you use a newsreader rather than the Mactopia interface to this newsgroup
you can download old messages and search for answers. If you are not
familiar with a newsreader, Entourage's basic newsreader already has the
Microsoft News server included. All you do is subscribe to the newsgroups
you want. See this article for help subscribing using the Entourage
newsreader:

It could be an effort to stop spammers. I did a quick search in Google for
Gmail and BCC. It seems that sending directly from the Gmail web interface
will give different results than sending using an email client like
Entourage.

Yes, you're right! The bcc is visible in Webmail but not Entourage.
Thanks.
