viewing charts in their own sheet

Processor: Power PC

In Excel 2004 if you created a chart in its own sheet you could make the chart automatically fill the window, i.e. no gray space around the chart. This was done in one of the view custom options (not a menu item) you would check one of the boxes (i can't remember which one because I uninstall Office 2004.) In Office 2008 when you are viewing a chart sheet the "View" menu has a new menu entry at the bottom called 'Sized with Window' (note this menu entry does not appear when viewing a data sheet). But I can't select this menu entry. It doesn't seem to do anything. Does it work for anyone else?? I'm on a Powerbook G4 so I have a PowerPC processor.

Actually, it was on the Chart Properties panel:), and when viewing a Chart
sheet it did appear in the View menu... But not retained in 2008. I would
tend to believe that the View> Sized with Window command in2008 is intended
to be the equivalent, but it does nothing here either.

I'll bug it & try to get an explanation back here as soon as I can.

Darn, this did NOT get fixed in SP1!
What is not fixed? (I'm not sure it was ever broken.) Right click on the
chart and select Move chart. Then select New sheet.

Unfortunately, this feature is no longer supported in Win 2007/Mac 2008. As
silly as it may sound, we're tracking a work item to remove the menu
command.

I should clarify that inserting chart sheets or changing a chart on a sheet
to a chart sheet is supported, the "Sized with window" feature is not.

Are you saying that you are eliminating the ability to size charts with the window? This is probably the greatest single feature of Excel 98 - 2004. After a few weeks of suffering with Office 2008, we are uninstalling it and happily returning to Office 2004. The loss of features is EXTREMELY SERIOUS. Might I suggest a solution like Coca-Cola did after the New Coke disaster and come out with Microsoft Office Classic which would simply be Office 2004 recompiled for Universal code and add the XML formats.

I do not see the early messages in this thread, but I also do not see
anything messing her regarding sizing charts. You can add a chart to a
separate worksheet in a work book, and can easily size that chart to what
ever size is needed. Sizing the window correctly should not change the chart
size.

If you think a feature is missing you should inform Microsoft by sending
feedback from the help menu. You seem to think "recompiling Office 2004 for
Universal and adding XML" is a fairly trivial task. If so, you greatly
misunderstand the complexity of the issues. Rest assured that if that made
economic sense for the MacBU, or that it was a good way to expend their
resources it would have been done.
