viewing contacts

When I have opened a blank email preparing to send and
click on the address icon next to To: I want to be able
to view the contacts by last name.

I have it set up everywhere else by last name, first name
etc. Can you help?

For Outlook 2000:

1. From the main Outlook screen, click on Tools, Services
2. Select "Outlook Address Book", then click on Properties
3. Select the proper address book, then change the sort
order to File as (Smith, John)
4. Close all screens, and exit Outlook. When you start
Outlook again, it should be sorted by last name, first
name when creating new e-mail.

For Outlook 2002:

1. Click on Tools, E-Mail Accounts
2. Under Directory, select View or change existing....
3. With Outlook Address Book highlighted, click on Change
4. Select the proper address book, and then set Show
names by: to File As (Smith, John)
