I have created a checkin process where users will call up the name of a
student who has arrived on campus and by checking a box, record the time that
the student checked in. The main data base is stored on a shared directory.
The staff in another building needs to keep track of the students who have
checked in and when they checked in. I tried setting up a DAP in the shared
directory and it works but I think that by using it I'm violating the
firewall. I don't want to load the database on the web because there is too
much information that shouldn't be on the web. Can I create a view of the
data withing access that members who are in this office can look at, that
will update automatically every few minutes. I'd like the view to remain in
the shared directory. I've done this with Excel and File Maker Pro, very
successfully. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
