Viewing data file in Word 2003

In Word 2000 I could go to "My Data Sources", click on a file, open it and
work with it. In Word 2003 I can no longer do that. I have to open a new
document and go through the Mail Merge Wizard to get to the data source
before I can view it. Am I doing something wrong, or is this how Word 2003
works? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
