viewing gmail emails in both outlook and entourage

I just got a macbook and when I get my gmail emails it only goes to entourage or to outlook on my PC, but I would like to be able to receive them on both instead of just one. I have another account through Charter, and I am able to receive those emails in both. I tried changing the outlook settings for the gmail account so that it said "recent:" before the username, but when I did that it solved one problem and created a new one: I could receive the gmails in both entourage and outlook but I was suddenly unable to send emails through gmail on the outlook. I took out recent and that problem was solved but now once again I can only get gmails in one or the other but not both. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Check Gmail help for setting up your Gmail account as an IMAP account in
both email applications (Entourage and Outlook). If you enable IMAP support
in Gmail and recreate your accounts as IMAP accounts, your messages will not
get downloaded to only one application (as is the case with POP accounts).

Well, I think I did as you said and am still having the same problem. I enabled IMAP support in Gmail and recreated my gmail accounts in both Outlook and Entourage as IMAP accounts, and still I only get my gmails downloaded into one or the other application, but not both. Is there anything else I might be able to try? Thanks.
