viewing mac word document on pc

hi everyone,

i just installed office 2004 on my powerbook. i am having the
following problem. when i save a document on the mac ie, "hello.doc"
and try to then view it through word on the pc, it appears as _.hello
and when i open the document it is a series of characters.

When you save a file to or drag a file to a Windows system, you sometimes get
two files, one that you expect, and another that's the same filename except
that it's preceded by a "._". That's the resource fork.

You should, of course, have the "regular" file too, and it should work okay.

Hi vkm,

The reason you see file names with underscores in windows is that you have
set windows to display hidden file names.

Normally windows is set to not show hidden file names. You should set
windows to not display hidden file names so that you don't confuse hidden
files with the document files you want to use.
