viewing pictures

I'm running WIN XP and Word 2003 Pro.
When viewing a picture in a document, I get just a box where picture should
be. I do a print preview and picture is there and prints out fine. I
transfer file to another computer and picture views fine. What setting is
this?

You may need to view the picture in Print Layout view instead of Normal View.

Tools | Options | View | Show and deselect Picture Placeholders.
