Viewing Symbols

I am having an issue with some symbols in Word 2003 documents. I have a
document that has a checkbox symbol. If you view the doc on a Win XP SP1
system, the symbol display correctly, but if you view the doc on a Win XP SP2
system the symbol do not display correctly, it looks like Ù± . Any ideas?
