Viewing task from multiple projects in Gantt Chart view

I have a 3 different projects going on at the same time. The resources on
these projects are spread across all three. The projects and resources are
at the enterprise level. I can easily see who is over allocated across all
projects on one screen using the resource usage view. I can also all of the
tasks assigned to each resource using the “Resource Usage†view, across all
projects. But what I want to do is see all tasks for a specific resource in
the “Gantt Chart†view. I was thinking the only way to do this is to create
a master project plan with the three separate plans as the sub-projects. But
will this cause issues with the publishing of the individual plans? Right
now these plans are separate and get published separately. If I use the
Master/Child format, would I only have to publish the master to get
everything published? Or is there another way to see all of the task in the
Gnatt Chart format for a single resource across all projects?

The publishing of master projects is problematic, as it causes duplicate
task assignments for resources assigned to tasks in each subproject. The
saving of master projects is not problematic, however, the option to save
master projects in the Project Server database is disabled by default in
Project Server 2003. You can always ask your Project Server administrator
to enable this option for you. Another option would be to create a
temporary master project by doing the following:

1. Log into PWA
2. Click the Projects menu
3. Select the row header for each of the three projects
4. Click the Open button

The system will launch Microsoft Project Professional and will automatically
create a master project consisting of the three selected projects as
subprojects. Expand each of the subprojects and from there you can apply
the Using Resource... filter to view task assignments for each resource
across all three projects.

An alternative would be to use the View resource assignments option, which
is found in the sidepane of the Resource Center page in PWA. Hope this
helps.
