Viewing Tasks across Plans in PWA

Christine Flora

I have created various plans in MS Project, saved and published them to MSP
Server 2003. I would like to have a single view in PWA that would show all
late and/or incomplete tasks across these plans. I thought I'd be able to do
this with a master plan but having read most of the threads on this forum
about not publishing master plans in MSPS 2003, I'm wondering now if I can do
this.

Thanks in Advance for your help.

Christine:

The thing for you to do is create a Master Plan that you can either save in
Project Server, or simply open up temporarily. You need to generate this
type of report using the Project client as you can't do this in PWA, which
doesn't support cross-project reporting at the task level.

Thanks Gary for the info. It's disappointing since using the MSP client is
not an option for this requirement, but it is what it is.

Dear Microsoft Project Team:

Is this possible in MSPS 2007 with all of the changes you've done with
Master Plans, etc?

Christine:

You could go after this data in the database using SQL reporting services
and display the report in PWA. Does that help?

Hi Gary,

It is a good thought certainly, but we probably won't at this time. Rolling
out SSRS in this situation would be like swatting a fly with a hammer.

But thanks for the suggestions and help. I do appreciate you taking the
time to help me.

It's certainly a lot for one report, but once you get familiar with it I'm
sure you can think of other uses.<g> Best of luck.
