Viewing Works 4.0 with Office 2003, Possible?

Jeremy

I am having a touch time trying to download and view files produced with
Microsfot Works 4.0 (as I am told) the extensions vary from *.wks, *.xlr, and
*.wps I assume these are all in the Works suite which i do not own.

I downloaded 2 different converters and was unable to view these, then
decided to upgrade to 2003 from 2000 ... yet I still am unable to open any or
these files, without getting 'gibbersih'

Is there a reliable converter or a reason i can not view these files, I am
able to open 1 which is more of a word format... the others are spreadsheets.
I used to be able to preview these files with yahoo, so it was not a
problem... now that feature is not available with these files, not sure what
happened.
It would say "File name: RULES_FF.wps | File type:
application/octet-stream" in the preview window

If anyone can assist me I'd really appreciate it. I have looked on the
Microsoft website, but I can not seem to find anything

Thank you,

Jeremy

I have Tried :::
wp2Krtf - downloaded this file, to no avail.
Word 2000 Batch Works File Converter - this process didn't help either

THEN I updated to Office 2003 --- Now What?

Hi Jeremy,

There is a converter from MS for the Works 4.0, 4.5 and Works 2000 (v5) word processor files (.wps) available through
http://microsoft.com/downloads/deta...3c-6df6-4545-89ff-05c627fba36b&DisplayLang=en It is the Wp2Krtf.exe
one.

Once that converter is installed turn on
[x] Confirm Conversions at open
in Tools=>Options=>General in Word then use File=>Open in Word to open a .wps file and see what versions of Works are listed in the
'choose a converter' list.

There is a 3rd party converter that can convert the older .WKS (later versions of Works spreadsheet files had .XLR files compatible
with MS Excel .XLS files) and the Works .wdb database files.
