Virtual PC crashed after XP SP2 update

Has anyone tried to apply the Windows XP SP2 update to a
Virtual PC virtual machine ?

I have VPC 6 with Windows XP Professional and all the
latest updates. I run the SP2 update from CD and it took
over 1.5 hours. It finished and a message popped saying
it needed to do a restart. It did the restart and I went
off for some coffee while I waited. When I got back I had
a blank screen with a VPC dialogue saying it had crashed.

I'm running VPC on a 15" flat panel iMac 800Mhz with 512Mb
RAM and OS X 10.3.5.
