virus infected system.exe file

I conducted a full scan using Norton Anti-Virus software.
It found 2 viruses. 1) the blaster.worm in my msblast.exe
file. I'm currently backing up my files so I can install
the Patch from Microsoft, and then download Symantec's
removal tool.

The second one is trickier, I think. I have the IRC Trojan
virus on my system.exe file. The Norton scan tells me just
to delete the infected files. But I'm afraid my computer
won't work if I do that!!

Can anyone help?

You can read the instructions on Symantec's site to see what extra
work you have to do for the trojan. System.exe was supplied by the
trojan. It is not a standard file.
