virus scanning

Gerbatin

I get a scanning for virus warning even when I open Excel or an
worksheet; actually even when I disable my anti virus auto protect
feature; Excel 2002 and OS windows 98.

TIA for any suggestio

Do you mean you get a prompt to enable macros? Or do you really get prompted
for "scanning for viruses"?

If you meant the first, then there's an option you can toggle:

Tools|macro|security|security level tab.

High means disable all macros all the time.
Medium means you get the choice
Low means you don't get asked and they are enabled.

Microsoft warns against using Low.

If you mean that you know that your workbook doesn't have macros, but you still
get the prompt, visit Debra Dalgleish's site:
